Parent
& Family Information

There are many new challenges that accompany the transition to college
– for parents and students alike. Our Parent and Family Orientation
is designed to help your family prepare for the changes that come with
this exciting milestone.
The parent and family Orientation runs parallel to the new student Orientation
and Registration (Phase I) program. It is a great opportunity for family
members to meet important campus contacts, and have questions and concerns
answered about UW-Parkside.
Parents and family will have an opportunity to hear from faculty, staff
and current students and will become more knowledgeable about the campus
environment.
The information provided during Orientation is critical to success at
UW-Parkside; therefore, student participation is not only essential
but required. Parent Orientation is optional, but we hope that you will
take time to familiarize yourself with our campus by attending the parent
session.
Family members will do the following at Orientation:
• Meet with university staff to learn about expectations and services.
• Learn more about our system of academic advising.
• Talk about the university/parent relationship and what information
we cannot share
• Talk about how they can support their sons and daughters while
they attend UW-Parkside
• Meet other parents and family members of new students
• Take a tour of campus or check out the residence halls
There is a $16 fee for each parent, which covers the cost of materials
and lunch.
